Editorial Policy: Plagiarism and Similarity Limits

BAITA Engineering: Journal of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering is committed to publishing only original research and maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. All submitted manuscripts are rigorously screened for originality upon submission and before formal peer review.

1. Similarity Thresholds

• Maximum Allowed Similarity: The journal enforces a strict overall similarity index threshold of 20%.
• Single-Source Limit: No single external source should contribute more than 5% similarity, even if the overall index is below the 20% threshold.

2. Screening Process

• All submissions are automatically screened using professional plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin / iThenticate).
• The similarity report is reviewed manually by the editorial team to distinguish between legitimate matches (such as standard methodology descriptions, properly cited definitions, and references) and actual plagiarism.

3. Policy on Self-Plagiarism (Text Recycling)

Authors must not reuse significant portions of their own previously published work (text, data, or figures) without clear attribution. If text recycling is identified, the manuscript may be subject to the same actions as standard plagiarism.
